Our Mission

A community that invests in itself is impressive. The upper park is an introduction to the community, and first impressions have a powerful effect on future opinions of Inverhuron; for both recreation and tourism. Just as importantly, a development of this kind is fundamental to a sustained community development process encouraging continued and future securement of resources.

Investment has impact.

To be the voice of a community that is vibrant, engaged and motivated to maintain the best parts of our community while enhancing and expanding our ability to

deepen our community relationships

Background

The genesis of this project began in with a group of Inverhuronites who shared a vision of creating a hub of communal gatherings within the Upper Park . As with most projects, the early days prove to be the most difficult and foundational to subsequent efforts.

Over time the project took different forms as the group experienced the ebb and flows of volunteers. Unfortunately their efforts came to an abrupt halt in 2020 with the advent of covid.

However, the vision was not lost but reignited by Gordon Barr and Gar Peterson in the summer of 2023. Their efforts attracted the attention of several individuals who worked with 'council' and the municipality.

Foundational to their efforts were the compelling voices of our community as expressed in the 2023 IDRA survey of its members.

Through trial and error and intense determination, the years of efforts bore fruit with the passage of a resolution on May 27th 2026 by counsel's acceptance of funds donated by Bruce Power for development within the Upper Park providing recreational opportunities to the community.

Our role in this story is one of never losing site of the aspirations the IDRA survey captured. The INPA was able to gain the trust and support of numerous like minded individuals who found value in our efforts.

To ensure the efforts of a few fully reaches the aspirations of the many, the INPA needs you, as volunteers, to add your strength and talents.

Our mentor, Gordon Barr, made clear that the work we do within this non profit organization does not belong to any one person, rather is best viewed as our contribution to those who will follow. In this sense, the Upper Park becomes a living thing that those who follow will contribute in kind

to those who then follow next.
